This post won't help sell any of my books, but I'm providing it as a public service. A friend recently introduced me to DALL-E mini, a machine learning algorithm that can generate entirely new images from almost any idea. (Update: DALL-E mini is now known as Craiyon.) While the creators of DALL-E mini may view their project as a contribution to the arts, it is actually much more powerful than that. It is a way for us to visualize a world that is full of excitement rather than daily disappointments. I will provide several examples.
First, there is the matter of history. We all know basic historical facts, and we all know that they are boring. With the help of DALL-E mini, we can witness far more interesting historical events that didn't happen but should have:
You'll notice that DALL-E mini doesn't always do a great job with faces, especially eyes. There are a lot of cyclopses in the alternate universe that it presents. But wouldn't you rather live there than here?
And that's not all. You can use this sophisticated A.I. to learn how a recipe will turn out before you waste time and ingredients fixing it:
Just for fun, you can put celebrities and world leaders in compromising positions. However, the A.I. is capable of seeing their basic humanity. No matter what embarrassing situation these people find themselves in, they maintain their dignity and good spirits:
Then again, there are some individuals who lack basic humanity, and have a heart of pure evil. The A.I. can detect that, too:
And, for those who think I didn't include enough Sesame Street references in this post, I leave you with this:
